Planning Commission
The Pere Marquette Township Planning Commission is the body created through the authority of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (33 of 2008). Members are selected for 3-year staggered terms by the Township Supervisor, and appointed by the Township Board.

The Planning Enabling Act charges the Planning Commission with responsibility for:
- Development of the Zoning Ordinance
- Reviewing proposed developments, special use permits, and rezoning applications
- Preparation, adoption, amendment of a Master Plan
- Various recommendations to the Township Board
Comprehensive Plan (adopted July 2016)
As of September 8, 2021, the Planning Commission began the process of reviewing and updating the current version of the Pere Marquette Township Comprehensive Plan. For details on how to receive an electronic copy of the draft when ready, please see this informational letter.
