Michigan Broadband News

Update: Date has been extended to April 30th!

Michigan has received more than $1.5 billion in broadband expansion funding through the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

It’s exciting that Michigan has received the fourth highest funding amount of all states, but it’s important that we all help inform about locations where addresses are unserved or underserved, and do not meet high-speed designation, (above 100Mbps/20Mbps).

It’s critical that Mason County be accurately represented so internet service providers who will be competing for the BEAD dollars can be properly informed about which locations need to be upgraded.

Citizens can help identify any locations they’re aware of that may be inaccurately represented on the FCC maps and challenge them if there are inaccuracies.

THE WINDOW TO CHALLENGE CLOSES ON APRIL 30th CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR ADDRESS IS ACCURATELY REPRESENTED BEFORE APRIL 30th.
